Three of Foster-Melliar's IT Service Management Trainers have successfully completed the ITIL V3 managers bridging course. This makes Foster-Melliar the training provider with the most qualified V3 Managers Trainers in South Africa at this stage, again re-enforcing Foster-Melliar's standing as one of the leading local providers of ITIL(r) and ITSM training and consulting services.
"Foster-Melliar is extremely proud to announce that Derrick Plank, Russell Steyn and Yolande Du Plooy have successfully completed the Version 2 to Version 3 Managers Bridging Examination. This places all three individuals firmly within grasp of the coveted ITIL Expert Qualification. The value to our customers of having these Trainers Certified at this early stage of the V3 Lifecycle is immeasurable. Many people initially viewed the upgrade as a major change to the underlying concepts of ITIL whereas it actually consolidates the logic of the Library by integrating the various concepts of Version Two into an effective lifecycle approach," explains David Anderson, CEO of Foster-Melliar.
The V2 to V3 Managers Bridge examination is a gruelling 90-minute session, which entails 20 complex multi-choice scenario-based questions of which the delegates need to achieve 80% to pass. This has only been made available to training providers at this stage, and pending further announcements by the Examination Boards, it is not 100% sure when these Bridging Programs will be made available to the public.
The launch of ITIL3(r) also brings with it a change of structure around the governing of the library. ITIL(r) is the intellectual property of the UK Office of Government Commerce (OGC), which developed the library in the late 1980s as a structured guideline for effective IT Service Management (ITSM). OGC is currently distancing itself from the maintenance of the library effectively giving the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF) the reigns as the official custodian of ITIL(r). APM Group (APMG) will step up as official examination and certification body for the library.
Another significant change is the empowerment of APMG to license other examination institutes that meet international or equivalent local standards as official ITIL(r) examination bodies. In the past only EXIN and ISEB were licensed as ITIL(r) examination providers. "Foster-Melliar's offerings are accredited by ISEB and EXIN and we intend to maintain the partnerships with them as we are comfortable with the standard and the prestige that is synonymous with them," concludes David.
