Canon South Africa has launched its flagship SmartBase MPC600F multifunctional device featuring advanced print, fax, scan and copy capabilities combined in one compact and sophisticated flatbed system.
This new all-in-one introduces the SmartBase line-up, a range of new multifunctional peripheral products designed to give the small office maximum versatility when working and communicating.
By combining four full-colour office machines in the space of one unit, with one cable and only one driver installation, the MPC600F saves the user time, space and money, thus improving overall efficiency and ease-of-use while reducing the workspace required.

By incorporating the powerful award-winning print engine of Canon`s Bubble Jet S630, this new multifunctional device offers one of the fastest printing speeds available on the market today (1) - with up to 17ppm (pages per minute) mono and 12ppm colour printing.
The MPC600F also achieves truly cost-effective operation and an overall reduced cost of ownership with the use of Canon`s Single Ink Technology. This system allows users to individually replace one colour cartridge at a time as each colour tank is consumed, thereby eliminating wasted ink and providing a cost-saving full colour solution.
Not sacrificing quality for its remarkable speed and convenience, the MPC600F delivers truly professional results, with vibrant true colour and precision. The Canon MPC600F`s true 2400 x 1200 dpi resolution now means that up to 2.88 million dots of ink per square inch can be fired onto the paper. The quality is further enhanced through Canon`s unique advanced MicroFine Droplet Technology to ensure ink drops are consistent in terms of size, shape and placement. The microscopic 5 picoliter ink droplets produced by this technology enable ultra-fine, sharp images on a wide range of materials.
Output quality is further enhanced through the MPC600F`s new improved high colour inks, which allow for higher optical density and a wider colour gamut. To ensure images, photographs and artwork last longer, Canon has developed a new `long life` media called Photo Paper Pro, with which photos are guaranteed light fast for 25 years (subject to storage or display conditions) (2).
The MPC600F employs Canon`s advanced technologies, which combine to provide the highest performing multifunctional device in its class. Its Super G3 (33.6 Kbps) modem offers a three-second fax transmission speed, while the 270-page memory of the MPC600F allows users to store messages prior to sending them, limiting the time spent waiting to fax, and also ensuring that no information is lost if paper or ink runs out while the machine is active.
This high performing imaging system also includes a built-in 30 page automatic document feeder, which accelerates the fax, scan and copy capabilities, thereby improving the efficiency of overall paper handling. Its sophisticated flatbed body enhances creativity and flexibility by allowing users to easily fax, scan and copy a wide variety of materials ranging from documents and photos to books and even 3D objects.
The MPC600F also delivers flat bed scanning functionality with excellent precision, enabling users to scan documents, photos, books and even 3D objects at 600 x 1200 dpi optical and up to 9600dpi (interpolated) in brilliant 36-bit colour, picking up the very finest of photo details.
Finally, the MPC600F enhances creativity and flexibility by enabling the user to copy a variety of materials at a speed of 17 copies per minute in black and white and up to an amazing 10 copies per minute in full colour. It also features a First Copy Output time of eight seconds, and various intelligent copy features such as Mirror image, Image repeat and Entire Document Copy plus 25% Reduction to 400% Enlargement.
