Four new multi-functional digital copiers for lower end of the market

Johannesburg, 14 Feb 2003

NPC (Electronics) Ltd, the exclusive distributor and importer of Panasonic and Technics products in SA, has continued building on the success of the first three models in its WORKiO series of digital copiers, introduced to SA since early-2001. So says Ben Hunt, director: Panasonic Office Automation IT and Telecommunications Systems, announcing that the company launched a further four multi-functional models to the local market in November 2002.

Designed to strengthen the lower end of the WORKiO range, the quartet of newcomers bring exceptional office automation functionality within the reach of small to medium-sized offices or work groups. They do so by filling the gap in this sector left by the upper-end DP-2000, DP-2500 and DP-3000 models introduced over the past 18 months or so. According to Hunt, the new WORKiO models have already been very well accepted in the market, heralding excellent prospects for the future.

"As with the existing WORKiO models in the range, the new machines make document handling far easier and more efficient than before," says Hunt. He elaborates by detailing the key features offered by all four of the new models, namely:

* Space-saving in design yet versatile in functionality. Each model combines copier, scanner and network printer functions in a compact unit, copying and printing on paper up to A3 in size. An inner paper tray output design (ie no protruding paper trays) means that the machine can fit in a corner.

* Handling input and output in one place for better document workflow organisation. The WORKiO machines come with Panasonic`s Document Management software, giving you efficient, versatile control over your documents. Documents scanned using a WORKiO machine are instantly accessible from the PC platform. Here stored documents can be saved, edited, searched and shared within designated work groups.

* Easy-to-use. The WORKiO digital copiers address all the office automation needs of small and growing businesses, but without excess complexity. Following universal design principles for ease of use and accessibility, the control panels on the four new models are set low and are angled for convenient operation. The layout of the buttons is also clean, making it easy to select the correct buttons and therefore easy to use the machine.

* Network laser printer. Equipped with Ethernet 10/100BaseTX interface, the new WORKiO machines are ready for use as an office network printer.

The features specific to each of the new models are as follows:

* DP-1510P A 15cpm/15ppm digital copier/printer, also offering 2-in-1 copying, Digital Skyshot and Image Rotation functionality;

* DP-1810P Essentially identical to the DP-1510P but delivering 18cpm/18ppm in digital copier/printer mode;

* DP-1810F An 18 cpm/18ppm digital copier/printer with an in-built high-speed Super G3 fax, also offering a Send to E-mail function that instantly converts paper documents into digital information for Internet transmission; and

* DP-2010E A 20cpm/20ppm digital copier/printer also offering two-sided copying/printing as a standard feature.

"The four new WORKiO models complete Panasonic`s digital copier/printer offering by extending the technology into the lower end of the market," concludes Hunt. "Given that any of the newcomers can operate either as a standalone desktop machine or be networked for maximum use, we now have a range of models to suit the diverse needs of the small to medium-sized businesses in this sector."
