FOXit and its CEO announced as one of winning entrepreneurs

Johannesburg, 22 Mar 2012

Aldo van Tonder, CEO at FOXit, has been recognised as one of the winners in the Finweek/Aurik BizAccelerator Programme.

FOXit, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and a Microsoft BizSpark partner, is also a service provider focused on PPM (project and portfolio management) and EPM (enterprise project management) in business.

The BizAccelerator Programme is a business development initiative spearheaded by Aurik (a Johannesburg-based business incubator) in conjunction with media partner Finweek.

The initiative was designed to identify and engage with exciting and high-potential entrepreneurs across various industries and sectors.

Following the assessment of more than 150 submissions, a final list of 10 such entrepreneurs has been finalised and presented in Finweek.

Van Tonder says successful applicants will receive Business Development Support to the value of R250 000 that will help accelerate the business development and growth over the next 24 months. Readers of Finweek will be kept up to date on progress of these entrepreneurs through regular updates in both Finweek and on www.fintalk.co.za.

“This programme was established to support the development of high-potential growth entrepreneurs and the businesses they are building. The intensive programme is practical and immediately applicable to the challenges a business will face through its growth process,” says Van Tonder. “This is all about pushing business forward in a way that entrepreneurs can manage and in way that they are able to gain maximum advantage.”

The Acceleration Package includes a number of key elements that are structured to address serious considerations such as entrepreneurial aptitude, business systems development and finances, and opportunity and risk assessment.

“This package removes the loneliness of the entrepreneurial process through regular engagement with Aurik facilitators. It directs the development of the business into an Asset of Value where the lead entrepreneur will build the business in such a way as to 'work on the business instead of in the business'. The result is that the entrepreneur can focus on building the business instead of only operating it. This package and substantial support is invaluable,” Van Tonder adds.

The ability to sustain high levels of efficiency in operation is critical, as is the capacity to deal with expanding markets and the impact of trends. Van Tonder refers to the convergence of social networks and the consumerisation of IT (the integration and use of mobile devices and technology in the workplace) as an example of growth and market progression.

Management at FOXit is adamant that project and portfolio management and enterprise project management technology helps to lay a firm foundation for businesses, of any size or focus, to compete.

The market can keep track of the progress of finalists by reviewing @finweek on Twitter, the Finweek magazine or visiting www.fintalk.co.za.
