Frank Touwen to leave EMC

Johannesburg, 05 Dec 2007

Frank Touwen, Country Manager of EMC, has decided to retire after over five years as Chief Executive of EMC South Africa.

"During the last five years we have built up EMC South Africa to become the dominant provider of computer storage and information infrastructure solutions in South Africa.

"The company has the largest market share and is a supplier to almost all the major enterprise companies. As EMC now moves into a new phase of development, this is an appropriate time to hand over the reins and to pursue my personal interests," says Frank Touwen. "I will be available to colleagues and clients throughout December to assist with any business issues."

Gerhard van der Merwe will take over the position of Country Manager with immediate effect. Van der Merwe has over 15 years` experience with EMC, most of these in various sales management positions. He has a very successful track record with EMC and is well known to EMC customers.

"I feel honoured to take over this position from Frank and know that he has left large shoes to fill," says van der Merwe. "EMC has made the transition from being a hardware-focused vendor to a complete information management company, and this will broaden our business focus in the future. I am looking forward to driving this strategy into the marketplace and have every confidence in the ability of the team at EMC to achieve this."
