Free 90 days Microsoft Windows NT support for its channel

Johannesburg, 15 Apr 1999

Microsoft South Africa has announced that all Value Added Providers (VAPs) will receive 90 days free support for Microsoft Windows NT, starting 15 April 1999. This limited special offer, which is over and above the warranty support that users get when they purchase Windows NT, is in response to an overwhelming demand from channel members, whose increasing support of the product has led to a large installed base in the South African small to medium organisation (SMORG) market.

"Our products are designed to match business requirements and many users don`t fully exploit the software," said Shane van Jaarsveldt, technical director of Microsoft South Africa. "This is especially so in the SORG market, where the small business person relies on their reseller for all IT support. In many instances, the reseller is the IT department of small businesses."

In the five-years since its launch, Microsoft Windows NT has become the de facto standard for running mission critical applications in businesses of all sizes. VAPs who sell it will benefit from the free support, by providing their customers with valuable after-sales service.

"We are committed to growing the South African IT industry and specifically business for our channel. Our offer of free support for Windows NT products will help our partners grow their business and in turn will allow their customers to better utilise their technology investment," concludes van Jaarsveldt.
