Free map updates make GPS more affordable

Johannesburg, 14 Nov 2007

Justmobile, the local distributor of Holux, has launched one of the most affordable GPS navigators and the first 32-channel GPS in South Africa.

The Holux GPSmile 53CLife GPS comes with HandyMAP navigation software for Windows CE platform and offers free map updates twice a year.

The new Holux GPSmile 53CLife portable automobile navigation device comes with some neat features, including photo viewing, eBook, and MP3 player. It also comes with a stylus which makes it easy to enter destination addresses.

There is 32MB of NAND flash memory on-board and 64MB SDRAM memory for operating system and embedded applications. More importantly, HandyMAP is the only GPS software that offers a free software upgrade option without having to pay for new hardware.

Justmobile director Justin Steven says the Holux GPSmile 53CLife provides users with easy-to-use, simple, and accurate automobile navigation. "The modern technology, convenient operation, simple and highly accurate navigation of the GPSmile, provides users with a pleasant, trouble-free driving experience. Built-in MTK GPS solution, the newest-generation, high-performance receiving chipset, ensures uninterrupted reception and eliminates blind spots."

The display is a spiffy 3.5-inch TFT-LCD capable of QVGA resolution at 16.7 million colours and it offers touch-screen interface as well. At the heart of the device is a Samsung S3C2440A processor running at 400MHz, with Windows CE .Net 5.0.

The Holux GPSmile 53CLife is the first model in South Africa sporting a 32-channel receiving chipset. This means one doesn`t lose a signal that often while driving or in built-up city centres. Establishing satellite reception is fast, and the same with reactivating reception after one has turned the unit off. When it comes to connectivity and signal strength, the 53CLife is one of the best.

Specifications:

* Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 Core Version
* CPU: Samsung S3C2440A, 400 MHz
