Free WiFi at Cape Town Carnival

VAST Networks has partnered with the City of Cape Town to provide free access to all carnival-goers for the entire event on Saturday, 12 March.

According to a statement, Cape Town Carnival revellers at this year's event will be able to access all their favourite social media sites at no charge.

Speaking about the partnership, VAST Networks CEO Grant Marais says: "We are thrilled to be able to work with the carnival organisers for this special event. The free WiFi we are providing will enable anyone and everyone to share their carnival experience with their friends, family and the world, through social media and other platforms."

The theme for this year's Cape Town Carnival is 'Street Life', with more than 55 000 people expected to attend. The VAST Networks team will deliver connectivity across large open spaces stretching the entire length of the Green Point Fan Walk.

By providing the infrastructure and , VAST Networks says it will bear all costs necessary to provide WiFi on this scale. "We firmly believe in the access to information, markets, people and opportunities, and are giving that experience to the people of Cape Town during this special event."

He adds: " access is essential to develop an inclusive and modern economy but also to strengthen the social fabric of the country by democratising connectivity. Supporting events like this helps us to build towards this objective."

Information on how to connect to the VAST Networks WiFi will be available on the information leaflet distributed throughout the carnival.
