Free workshops not to be missed at DigitalLife Expo

Running in conjunction with ITWeb's Digital Life Expo - on at the Sandton Convention Centre, from 18 to 20 April - are twelve 45-minute, power workshops aimed at offering practical tips, tricks and hands-on demos on some of the hottest products and services to complete your digital lifestyle.

These not to be missed workshops are free and cover a range of topics from "Online banking and you" through to "How to make a movie".

* In "Online banking and you", Absa security experts discuss online banking and the risks associated with it. You will receive helpful information on how to minimise your risk online.

* Telkom discusses "The broadband home of the future", providing insight into broadband solutions that will make your life easier.

* "Enabling the Digital Home" will walk you through the basics of getting your home set up as either a full-access Internet zone or a wireless hotspot.

* The "Vodafone Live content portal demo" will provide access to an expert who will assist you in getting the most from the Vodafone Live content portal.

* The "Virgin Mobile content portal demo" will provide information on how Virgin's content portal works and how you can access a host of ringtones, wallpapers, video clips and more.

* In "Why is my printer ripping me off?", Lexmark explains printing and its associated costs. Find out how much individual pages cost, why cartridges are so pricey and how to be more economical, or environmentally friendly.

* MTN discusses "Why broadband matters" and how you can bring the Internet to wherever you are. In addition, you could stand a chance of winning a wireless F@stLink E270 modem to surf the airwaves.

* The digital camera market is booming and Cannon has an expert on hand to walk users through the various kinds of digital cameras and provide quick tips on getting the best out of them.

* In "Digital imaging with Adobe Photoshop", DigitalLife magazine's imaging expert Walt Pretorius will cover the basics, as well as some advanced techniques for retouching pictures.

* Sony and another DigitalLife magazine expert, Joel Kopping, explain the differences between standard definition, high definition, LCD and plasma, in "A crash course on high-definition television".

* Logitech presents the "Digital music, video: Get organised!" workshop. Pick up tips on how to get your music and movies in order, along with a few fantastic devices that'll help you enjoy them on the go or in the lounge.

* Finally, get the low-down from Edutain, on how to effortlessly edit, cut and add special effects to your home films, and burn them to disc.
