Freecom intros DR service
Storage device specialist Freecom has unveiled a hard drive insurance service which provides a fixed cost data recovery plan for any Freecom or rival vendor internal or external hard drive, reports Channel Pro.
The service can also cover certain appliances containing hard discs such as PVRs and MP3 players.
Major retailers including Play, ebuyer, Amazon, Novatech, Scan, Micro Direct and Aria are all set to offer it as a complementary sale alongside internal and external hard discs and as part of an outreach to existing customers.
Flash disaster recovery unveiled
VancesMill will include Flash data recovery to its line-up of data recovery, states TMCnet.
The solution has the capability to salvage the data if a hard drive dies or flash memory gets erased for various reasons, says the company.
VancesMill owner Kelly Bush say they have the tools to get the data back even if the hard drive has a logical or physical problem or the photos were deleted accidentally.
Sanovi prioritises finance sector DR
The loss of financial and customer data can be catastrophic for a bank. As most banking organisations are going digital, with core banking systems and online services, it has become vital for a bank to have a DR plan in place for its IT infrastructure, says Information Week.
In the past few months, Sanovi Technologies has implemented its DR management solution at major Indian banks, including HDFC Bank, ING Vysya Bank, and ICICI Bank.
“Though banks deploy a DR infrastructure, ensuring DR readiness manually is a major challenge. Being dependent on human intervention for DR is not a viable option. As the number of applications grow over time it becomes difficult to manually demonstrate DR readiness on a regular basis,” says Lakshman Narayanaswamy, VP of products, Sanovi Technologies.
