FTI helps to bring first Business Analysis Conference to South Africa

By Faculty Training Institute
Cape Town, 23 Feb 2012

Faculty Training Institute (FTI), a leading training provider of business analysis, enterprise architecture, project management and testing in South Africa, is proud to be associated with helping to bring the first business analysis conference to South Africa.

Business Analysis Summit Southern Africa (BASSA2012) is a conference dedicated to the profession of business analysis and will be held in Johannesburg from 3-5 September 2012.

BASSA2012 will afford delegates the opportunity to share knowledge and experiences and learn about and debate the issues that relate to the fast-evolving profession of business analysis.

Faculty Training Institute was the first education provider to be endorsed by the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) in South Africa and hold charter status. The training firm offers respected training programmes that develop the competencies of business analysts, and over the past two decades, has graduated hundreds of professional business analysts from their flagship Diploma in Business Analysis programme. The training firm is recognised for pioneering the profession of business analysis in South Africa.

“FTI has been at the forefront of promoting the profession of business analysis and has always sought to create opportunities for business analysts to network professionally. This conference is a great forum for business analysts to participate in. FTI is pleased to continue to support the South Africa Chapter of the IIBA in its mission to promote the profession of business analysis in South Africa,” says Steve Erlank, Managing Director of FTI.

The central theme of the conference will address the role of the professional business analyst as an enabler for effective business change. A major focus of BASSA2012 will uncover how mature business analysts, who take responsibility on behalf of the business, can drive out business value. The conference will have different tracks oriented towards topics targeted at different individuals, ranging from the novice business analyst seeking to plan a career, to a manager looking to understand the value proposition of business analysis and how to manage them to the professional business analyst wishing to understand and debate advanced techniques and network with fellow professionals.

The style of the conference is oriented to the profession and practice of business analysts. A mix of expert speakers, organisational case studies presented by practising business analysts, panel discussions and workshops will provide learning and networking opportunities for attendees.

Faculty Training Institute

Faculty Training Institute (FTI) was established in 1989 to provide affordable, practical and professional training of the highest standards to the IT industry. Starting with two Diploma courses, one in IS project management and one in systems analysis and design, FTI's product range now encompasses a wide and growing range of programmes. These programmes serve the professional skills-development needs of a community that stretches much wider than just information technology. The modern world continues to shift towards a knowledge economy, where old skills and paradigms become obsolete and new careers and roles emerge. These roles require multi-skilled individuals capable of high-order thinking and problem-solving skills, across a range of industries and knowledge domains.

FTI's strategy is to proactively identify these knowledge roles and create courses and programmes that define and support these roles. In the past 20 years, FTI has graduated thousands of knowledge professionals from their signature diploma programmes, with many delegates returning to augment their skills by attending our focused, intensive short courses. Our corporate client base now extends across southern Africa and includes numerous leading companies.
