FTI's enhanced PMP Exam Preparation workshop now incorporates CAPM

PMI Registered Education Provider, Faculty Training Institute, has enhanced its highly regarded "PMP Exam Preparation Workshop" to incorporate the Project Management Institute's (PMI) Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) credential.

Like the Project Management Professional (PMP) credential, the CAPM is administered by the PMI. Both credentials demonstrate one's commitment to the profession and expertise through certifying education, experience and competency. They also provide assurance that a person delivering project management services meets independently verified standards of practice.

"The primary aim of FTI's newly-named "CAPM PMP Exam Preparation Workshop" is to provide project managers wishing to write either the CAPM or PMP exam with a structured preparation forum and mutual network of support," says Carol Mould, PMP and FTI Programme Manager. The sessions are prepared so that specific areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) guide, which forms the basis of both exams, are covered comprehensively.

The PMI offers comprehensive certification programmes for project practitioners of all education and skill levels. The PMP credential is the most important industry-recognised certification for project managers. "Globally recognised and demanded, the PMP demonstrates that project managers have the experience, education and competency to lead and direct projects," says Mould. The PMI's Certified Associate in Project Management is a valuable entry-level certification for project practitioners. It demonstrates one's understanding of the fundamental knowledge, terminology and process of effective project management.

According to Mould: "Less experienced project practitioners who want to demonstrate their commitment to project management, improve their ability to manage larger projects and earn additional responsibility, would benefit from earning the CAPM credential."

To apply for the CAPM, individuals need to have a high school diploma (or global equivalent) and at least 1 500 hours of project experience or 23 hours of project management education by the time of the exam. This means that aspiring project managers can achieve this credential right at the beginning of their PM careers, thereby signalling their commitment to the profession even before gaining experience.

To apply for the PMP, individuals need to have 35 hours of project management education. In addition to the education requirement, they require a high school diploma (or global equivalent) with at least five years of project management experience, including 7 500 hours leading and directing projects. Alternatively, individuals who have attained a bachelor's degree (or the global equivalent) require only three years of project management experience, including 4 500 hours leading and directing projects.

As a PMI Registered Education Provider, delegates that attend FTI's project management courses can be assured the material complies with global project management standards and has been endorsed by the Project Management Institute.
