Faculty Training Institute's (FTI) recently piloted course Getting Started with Business Process Management has received excellent reviews. FTI plans to run the next iteration of the course on 15 July in Cape Town and 22 July in Johannesburg for business process owners, business analysts, project managers and people who need the skills to improve and/or manage business processes.
The one-day overview course teaches a systematic approach to organisational process improvement by using specific BPM methodologies, tools, techniques and adoption of suitable change management principles for business to effectively respond to transformative projects.
Delegates will understand strategic business alignment with processes. The course helps delegates understand what the new business process management (BPM) technologies are and how they can leverage other BPM efforts. They will also learn how to apply a BPM life cycle definition and continuously improve organisational performance through process analysis, design, performance management and process transformation.
According to Colin Brown, FTI's course lecturer: "Processes can be designed, built and implemented but thereafter, they need to be actively managed. This means monitoring through continuous measuring and taking the necessary interventions when feedback dictates. Only then can one enter the realm of continuous improvement and realistically say business processes are being managed."
FTI is able to bring this first-of-its-kind training to South Africa through an ongoing partnership with US-based Watermark Learning. Getting Started with Business Process Management complements FTI's highly successful Business Process Modelling Fundamentals two-day course. The courses may be taken separately or in combination, depending on the level of skill and experience of the delegate. The courses are methodology-neutral enabling participants to apply the knowledge and skills to any environment and use the techniques immediately upon leaving class.
Business Process Modelling Fundamentals is designed to give delegates the knowledge and skills required to accurately analyse and model existing business processes and to use these models to identify areas of the business which could be improved either through automating the processes using IT systems or redesigning a process to be more efficient. Much of the course is aimed at developing the thinking skills and mental framework for effective process modelling rather than merely teaching notation and methodology.
