Fujitsu cuts costs for customers running SAP solutions

New FlexFrame Compact for SAP solutions optimises business performance for mid-size systems.

Fujitsu has introduced FlexFrame Compact, a new solution that enables mid-size organisations to enjoy better business performance and guaranteed high availability of their SAP business applications.

Fujitsu's FlexFrame Compact for SAP solutions is a new entry-level version of the fully-virtualised dynamic FlexFrame infrastructure solution already used by more than 250 large enterprises to optimise their entire SAP solution environments - including servers, virtual machines, storage and networks - and to help reduce total cost of ownership.

With FlexFrame Compact for SAP solutions, Fujitsu is bringing this enterprise-class technology within reach of smaller businesses - further optimising the operation of SAP applications such as SAP Customer Relationship Management, SAP Supply Chain Management and SAP Product Lifecycle Management - by helping ensure faster operation and providing high availability. The FlexFrame Compact solution actively matches available system resources to current demand, to continually optimise environments running SAP solutions for best performance.

Targeting smaller organisations with total capacity requirements of up to 10 000 SAPS (the SAP Application Performance Standard unit of measure, or 200 000 fully business-processed order line items per hour), equivalent to around 10 systems running SAP solutions, FlexFrame Compact can be expanded to the full-size FlexFrame infrastructure solution, providing built-in room for future growth. This provides mid-size companies with the assurance that FlexFrame Compact for SAP solutions is an ideal foundation for their cloud computing environments of the future, since it meets the key requirements of flexibility, efficiency and reliability.

Optimised for business agility

By optimising IT resources, Fujitsu's FlexFrame solutions can reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) for systems running SAP applications by up to 60%. Better IT infrastructure utilisation cuts capital expenditure, while operating costs are reduced since fewer physical servers are required per installation, all of which are administrated automatically.

Business operations that depend on SAP applications are underpinned by FlexFrame's built-in high availability, avoiding the complexity of managing third-party tools for SAP solution-based environments. All Fujitsu FlexFrame implementations are quality-assured and pre-integrated at the factory, where customer-specific optimisation cuts delivery-to-operation time to just days.

Says Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice-President, Product Development Group at Fujitsu Technology Solutions: “Over the last seven years, Fujitsu FlexFrame for SAP solutions has helped large organisations reshape their IT, using powerful virtualisation to help ensure that technology is flexible and agile enough to meet ever-changing business needs. The introduction of Fujitsu FlexFrame Compact for SAP solutions, based on our strong partnership with SAP, extends this power to mid-size organisations, putting ease of management and virtualisation firmly in control of the business.”

Both SAP and Fujitsu customers confirm the values of Fujitsu FlexFrame for SAP solutions:

* “The migration to Fujitsu FlexFrame for SAP solutions has given us greater operational agility and simplified administration, through which we've achieved a significant reduction in costs,” says Dr Ulrich Lamp, CIO, K+S Group.

FlexFrame Compact for SAP solutions is now available globally from Fujitsu. Pricing and support varies according to individual implementations.
