Fujitsu Siemens Computers has launched a new advanced SetTopBox platform for IP streaming applications, namely the ACTIVY 200.
The system`s modularity allows it to be employed in a wide variety of business applications. Service providers, for example, will be able to use the ACTIVY 200 to implement Video on Demand and IP-based Pay TV solutions.
Communications solutions in hotel and business environments are also regarded as potential markets. The ACTIVY 200 will be officially launched at the International Broadband Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam, between 13 and 17 September. It will be available from the manufacturer from August, with prices starting at 300 Euros.
The ACTIVY 200 combines PC technology with technologies from entertainment electronics. Because the ACTIVY 200 supports a wide range of current and future standards, it represents a powerful, future-proof platform for the provider market.
Measuring just 76 x 384 x 315mm, the ACTIVY 200 is significantly smaller than the ACTIVY 300, which is already well established in Europe, and has been designed to complement the most diverse surroundings. It supports the PAL and NTSC video standards. SCART, S-Video and Composite video interfaces are also available. A PCI slot allows various network cards to be installed, for instance to implement a reverse channel.
The ConnectTV middleware from Fujitsu Siemens Computers and other software solutions available from Fujitsu Siemens Computers` partners make the development of applications a simple process. The flexible software architecture enables the software developer to program interfaces according to the precise requirements of their particular installation and operation scenario.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will present a complete portfolio of solutions for broadband applications in Hall 1.220 at the IBC in Amsterdam. Everything from CELSIUS Workstations for content creation to server and storage systems through to ACTIVY systems in their role as end-user interfaces will be on display.
