Fujitsu Services, Microsoft sign strategic ISV in SA to service local government in SA

Johannesburg, 24 Oct 2007

Fujitsu Services, part of the third-largest IT company in the world, has joined forces with Microsoft, signing a strategic ISV to work together in the local government market, developing a solution to provide a real alternative to other ERP solutions currently available in the market today.

As a vendor-independent and product-agnostic organisation, Fujitsu prides itself on choosing the best-of-breed technology from both local and global offerings. This enables the company to carefully select products that fully meet the client`s needs.

Stephen Floyd, Head of Core Services at Fujitsu, said: "We took a number of months assessing technology platforms and technologies available to us before deciding to enhance our already functionally rich Promis solution, by developing it on Microsoft`s .net platform, Promis.net.

"Fujitsu believes in getting realistic when it comes to developing solutions that are practical, timely to implement, cost-effective, simple to use and above all, reliable, delivering business-critical solutions which fully deliver against the clients` business challenges. The solution does just that."

Fujitsu Services was recently awarded a major contract at Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) in Port Elizabeth. Fujitsu will provide NMBMM with the locally developed, state-of-the-art Promis.net solution, which will take the municipality`s service excellence into the future.

Elvin DeKock, Managing Director, said: "Fujitsu is delighted to be working in partnership with Microsoft to offer the Promis.net solution not only to new clients such as Nelson Mandela Bay, but also to our 126 existing local government customers in the near future."

"Microsoft and Fujitsu have a longstanding global relationship with Fujitsu Services and we are delighted they have chosen .net as the platform for their new offering. Fujitsu South Africa has a long history of proving business-critical solutions to the local government market over many years and we will work in conjunction with them to further increase Microsoft`s footprint," said Jumana Helal, Marketing Manager for Middle East Africa.

Promis.net was designed and developed by the South African development team and remains South African intellectual property.
