Fujitsu Siemens Computers provides innovative applications for Linux market at BrainShare Europe

Johannesburg, 16 Sep 2004

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT provider, is one of the sponsors and a participant in "BrainShare 2004" from Novell in Barcelona, Spain.

The company will showcase innovative solutions like FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite for TCO reduction within SAP environments as well as the PRIMECLUSTER product suite, which enables flexible and fast-to-install cluster solutions. Another highlight will be the presentation of new ideas for the Linux operating system for the channel. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will also hold a session entitled "TCO - reductions realised: where to find them within an adaptive computing infrastructure".

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has a proven track record in the Linux market and has declared the operating system a strategic platform in its Business-Critical Computing concept. With well established solutions for the Linux market, the company offers SAP virtualisation via "FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite" for SAP, failsafe Linux with the PRIMECLUSTER product suite and Linux on hpcLine for cutting edge technical-scientific exploration in a supercomputing environment.

FlexFrame

The advent of new technological innovations has changed the competitive landscape of business. E-business is expanding technology`s reach well beyond company boundaries: mobile business, browser-aided access and personalised solutions - all this requires flexible and open IT architectures. Yet openness and flexibility are not enough on their own. Efficient e-business is distinguished by an easy to run, reliable and scalable IT infrastructure that helps to cut the total cost of ownership (TCO). Installed in several international customer projects, "FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite" is a joint development of Fujitsu Siemens Computers, SAPR and Network Appliance. This innovative solution greatly simplifies the implementation and operation of mySAP solutions, and can reduce TCO by up to 60%.

PRIMCLUSTER

PRIMECLUSTER offers high availability and scalability for the entire IT infrastructure. PRIMECLUSTER is the joint cluster product suite from the entire Fujitsu Group of companies (Fujitsu Siemens Computers/EMEA, Fujitsu Limited/Asia-Pacific and Fujitsu Technology Solutions/USA) and offers enterprises a powerful and cost-effective way of linking servers together to maximise the availability and scalability of their IT infrastructure. It has been developed with the Business-Critical Computing needs of enterprises in mind and aims to redefine availability to include not only the uptime of a server, but also by focusing on the entire hardware infrastructure, including the network and the storage devices. This cluster solution is released on both the Solaris/SPARC-based PRIMEPOWER server ranges with Solaris and the Intel-based PRIMERGY with the Linux operating system

Speaker session

TCO reduction is a buzzword and it is often very unclear what companies refer to when they are talking about it. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has analysed its infrastructure solution FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite and will give the audience a clear view on the different components of the solution and the TCO reduction potential that have been found.
