Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Siebel Systems form strategic alliance

Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2001

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European computer company, today announced that it has joined the Siebel Alliance Program as a Strategic Platform Partner.

Siebel Systems, Inc is the world`s leading provider of e-business applications software. This alliance enables customers to utilise the powerful combination of Siebel Systems` market-leading e-business applications software and Fujitsu Siemens Computers enterprise computing products leading to faster time to market and increased customer satisfaction.

Siebel Systems provides an integrated family of e-business application software, enabling multi-channel sales, marketing, and customer service systems to be deployed over the Web, call centres, field, reseller channels, retail, and dealer networks. Fujitsu Siemens Computers offers unrivalled expertise in enterprise computing with best-in-class Intel-based PRIMERGY servers and Solaris/Sparc-based enterprise servers in the PRIMEPOWER family.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers` server portfolio is sold in Europe, Asia Pacific, and the Americas under the same brand name in cooperation with Fujitsu Limited and Fujitsu Technology Solutions to serve global enterprises.

As a result of the alliance, Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Siebel Systems will increase their joint market penetration and build upon the success the two companies have already enjoyed. In addition to collaborating on joint selling activities, the companies will also dedicate resources to jointly develop, market and sell offerings to customers in several vertical industries including public sector and healthcare.

The alliance represents an important development in Fujitsu Siemens Computers` commitment to Business Critical Computing. Due to the alliance, Fujitsu Siemens Computers` customers will now be able to rapidly and cost-effectively develop and deploy customised multi-channel sales, marketing, and customer service systems worldwide, allowing them to increase revenues and overall customer satisfaction.

As a part of the alliance, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has established a Corporate Technology Centre in the Netherlands to optimise the integration of Siebel eBusiness Applications on Fujitsu Siemens Computers platforms. Siebel eBusiness Applications complement Fujitsu Siemens Computers` strategic direction of mobility, by enabling customers to manage data for personal and business applications any time, anywhere.

Bernd Bischoff, Vice President Sales, Marketing & Customer Service at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, said: "With the increasing awareness of e-business applications software as a business-critical solution, we are working closely with Siebel Systems to bring our combined expertise in this area to our customers. Our cooperation with Siebel Systems takes advantage of our existing synergies in technologies, skills, and market presence."

"Having a partnership with a global organisation like Fujitsu Siemens Computers enables us to increase the value of our multi-channel offering to our customers. Fujitsu Siemens Computers` products complement Siebel Systems` multi-channel approach," added Dr Steve Garnett, Vice President and General Manager of Alliances for Siebel Systems. "The partnership enables our joint customers to leverage the industry`s best eBusiness applications at the lowest total cost of ownership through secure, scalable, and always-on IT infrastructures."
