Further investment in Fujitsu South Africa

New head of Core Services
Johannesburg, 17 Feb 2006

Fujitsu has extended its investment in South Africa by appointing a new head of Core Services (see details below). Stephen Floyd joins the South African operation to lead the roll-out of the Fujitsu Core Services Model throughout the region.

Floyd brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience, having been an integral part of the Fujitsu UK management team for nearly six years.

As head of consumer call centres for the UK, he was instrumental in the growth of Fujitsu`s outsourced consumer call centre capability, turning it into a multimillion-pound business unit over a three-year period, increasing turnover sixteen-fold.

"I am excited about taking up this role and will work closely with Elvin de Kock, SA managing director, to ensure we further grow throughout the region and continue to actively develop and support our rapidly expanding customer base," he said.

De Kock said: "Following our recent successful rebranding activities, the implementation of 7799, EMEA`s internal help-desk call centre into SA and the investment in Fujitsu by BEE investment company Yard Capital, the appointment of Floyd is another leap forward in building capability around the Fujitsu Core Model.

"He will be responsible for assisting the team in rolling out this model and will also be instrumental in supporting an already growing pipeline of business opportunities we are currently pursuing in both the government and commercial sectors."

Mike Stares, Fujitsu SA chairman, said: "In Stephen`s role he is accountable for the strategy, operational delivery, quality and cost management of Core Services in South Africa and also for establishing closer relationships between the country and capability units. He is working as part of the country team to help grow our business in South Africa by developing offerings, engaging with customers and ensuring the core delivery capabilities are developed to support growth."
