Futurex brings the world to Jo`burg

Johannesburg, 15 Apr 2005

Futurex is not only bringing the LinuxWorld and Expo to South Africa but some international exhibitors are flying south to participate as well.

Futurex exhibition is to be held from 17 to 20 May at the Sandton Convention Centre and will have LinuxWorld and the Futurex conference running alongside.

Aldean Prior, director of the Futurex exhibition, says: "This year there are an estimated 300 exhibitors participating in the event and we expect 10% to 15% of them to be international. Hot topics for this year are information , technology and VOIP."

Among the international exhibitors are US`s Net Optics, supplier of monitoring, security and management applications, Canada`s Omni Technology Solutions, developer of management, security, mobility, messaging and Linux software, Taiwan`s Aten International Co, Telecommunication International and ASUSTek, just to name a few.

The co-location of Futurex and LinuxWorld was a move to grow the event. With 14 shows worldwide in 11 countries, LinuxWorld has proved to be a popular event.

Prior expects LinuxWorld to be spun off as a separate event in future.

Speakers at the LinuxWorld conference will include Mark Shuttleworth, Jon "Maddog" Hall, director of Linux International, and Werner Knoblich, director of Northern Europe at Red Hat.

Via a live satellite link from the UK, British Telecoms` chief futurologist Ian Person will deliver a keynote on the second day of the Futurex conference, which is held at the Sandton Sun from 18 to 19 May.
