Futurex, the only exhibition which brings together and showcases the entire spectrum of information technology, telecommunications, software, services and electronics under one roof, is set to become the major pan-African event on the ICTE calendar when it debuts on 18 May next year.
This follows the announcement at the official launch today in Johannesburg that Exhibitions for Africa, SA`s leading business-to-business exhibition company had entered into an agreement with pan-African marketing and promotional company, African IT Exhibitions & Conferences (AITEC) to aggressively promote Futurex into Africa.
Jo Melville, MD of Exhibitions for Africa said apart from co-ordinating delegations from key African countries which have national pavilions at Futurex, AITEC will also promote attendance at the exhibition and conference.
"In addition, during the conference, one day will be dedicated to briefings by African executives and ministers who will be invited to talk on their country. These sessions will be beamed into African venues," she explained.
"AITEC has a co-ordinating office in the UK and offices in Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania. It has also published the continent`s leading magazine Computers and Telecommunications in Africa aimed at ICT professionals since 1987," Melville explained.
"AITEC had been running ICT exhibitions and conferences across Africa since 1991. Its founder and chairman Sean Moroney is originally from South Africa. Through their offices in key markets, as well as correspondents and alliances in a wide range of other Africa countries, AITEC is an ideal partner to grow Futurex in Africa," Melville said.
Exhibitions for Africa also announced today that it will stage Futurex Cape in September 2004.
The exhibition will run alongside the Cape Industrial and Technology Show which incorporates biotechnology, logistics & supply chain management, process control and automation, fluid power & air technology, as well as general industry.
Futurex Cape has been endorsed by the Information Technology Association (ITA) and the Cape IT Initiative (CITI), and has the co-operation of the Cape Business Chamber which celebrates its Centenary in 2004.
"Our objective is to host a Business Chamber Centenary celebration which showcases the technologies to the relevant key business drivers in the region," Melville concludes.
