Gainward GeForce 4 graphics card now available from Axiz

Johannesburg, 22 May 2002

Power users, graphic artists and gamers can now experience boosted graphics power through the GainwardGeForce 4 graphics card, which is now available from local distributor Axiz. The card, which features nVidia`s Geforce 4 MX440 chipset, offers a large set of advantages to those users requiring intensive graphics processing capabilities.

"The NVIDIA nfiniteFX II Engine incorporates dual programmable Vertex Shaders, faster Pixel Shaders and 3D textures," says Alex Morse, graphics product manager at Axiz. "The nfiniteFX II Engine gives developers the freedom to program a virtually infinite number of custom special effects to create true-to-life characters and environments."

Users who will gain most use from this graphics card are those who require three dimensional viewing capabilities and high-definition video processing power, such as video and graphics editors, CAD/CAM users, and gaming enthusiasts. An integral part of the nfiniteFX II and nfiniteFX Engines, 3D textures make hollow objects solid with true three-dimensional material properties such as wood grain or marbling.

In addition, shadow buffers enable self-shadowing for characters and objects, and soften the edges of shadows for realistic effects, adding depth to scenes and highlighting spatial relationships between objects. The high-definition video processor (HDVP) turns a PC into a fully functional DVD player.

"The unified driver architecture (UDA) also guarantees forward and backward compatibility with software drivers," says Morse. This simplifies upgrading to a new NVIDIA product because all NVIDIA products work with the same driver software."

The product also offers the support for Windows XP, providing full acceleration on Windows XP multimedia and user interfaces, making it the ideal Windows XP graphics solution. In addition, Microsoft DirectX 8.X and OpenGL 1.3 delivers the best performance and guarantees compatibility with all current and future 3D applications and games.

The 10.6GB per second memory subsystem ensures peak performance and the smoothest frame rates ever, allowing extremely high resolutions and full-scene antialiasing as the standard operating mode for most games.

Axiz is a distributor of products from market leaders HP, Microsoft, Intel and LG, and also carries a wide range of leading brand components and solutions. More information is available at www.axiz.com.
