Samsung will take the wraps of the latest addition to its Galaxy range of smartphones tonight, at an event held in New York.
The Galaxy S4 event will be live streamed globally via Samsung's YouTube channel, and will kick off at 19:00 EDT (1am in SA).
It has been noted that by holding the launch event in New York, Samsung is taking direct aim at Apple's core market - on Apple's home ground. While Samsung is the top smartphone vendor globally, Apple currently has the top spot in the US market.
According to Reuters, some analysts predict the new Galaxy S4 could top 10 million unit sales in the first month after its launch.
The rumour-mill suggests the S4 will follow the same basic design as its predecessor, the Galaxy S3, but will sport a 5-inch, 1080p display with 440ppi.
A recent New York Times report, citing unnamed sources, said the new handset will feature 'eye-scrolling' which will allow users to, for example, scroll through articles or pause and play video using only their eyes.
While the unnamed source would not reveal what technology would be used for eye tracking. It has, however, been confirmed that Samsung has filed for a trademark in Europe for the name "Eye Scroll" and for "Samsung Eye Scroll" in the US.
According to SamMobile, the Galaxy S4 will feature an Exynos 5 Octa (8-Core) CPU, Mali-T678 (8-Core) GPU, 13MP rear-facing camera, 2MP front-facing camera, and it will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
