Cell C has also confirmed the Galaxy S4 is on pre-order and is expected to be available for on 26 April. "Deals and costs will be made available closer to launch date," says Cell C executive head of communications Karin Fourie.

MTN also has a pre-order application for the Galaxy S4 on its Web site.

Samsung's new top-end smartphone is slimmer and lighter (7.9mm and 130g, respectively) than its predecessor, the Galaxy S3. It features a five-inch, full HD Super AMOLED (1 920 x 1 080) display, with 441ppi. It is powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor and runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.
