Gallery Media Distributors corners local media market

Johannesburg, 19 Feb 2001

South Africa`s largest media producer and distributor, Gallery Media Distributors, is drumming up local sales for LG`s media products, including CD-Recordable disks, CD-Rewriter disks, audio and video tapes, and MP3 players.

"LG Electronics South Africa selected Gallery Media distributors, part of the Replication Technology Group (RTG), to handle our media distribution because of their excellent track-record and expertise within this industry. The company has become the best source of LG media products for all IT and media dealers in the country," says Jaehong Kim, product manager: IT Products at LG Electronics SA.

"LG`s logistical operation is highly focused on moving bulk items on a larger scale. This is why we decided to the distribution of our smaller media products.

"The Gallery sales force was another contributing factor in this decision, they have the numbers needed to be dedicated to these sales and also have offices in both Cape Town and Durban."

According to David Aronovitz of Gallery Media Distributors, the one-and-a-half-year relationship with LG has allowed the company to make good on the local media market.

"Gallery Media Distribution handles around 80 percent of videos distributed in South Africa and is also the largest importer of blank videos in the country. This highlights the company`s expertise and market acceptance," he says.

"LG offers well-priced, competitive, high quality media products, many of which hover on the peripheral of IT, like the MP3 players. This is why Gallery Media distribution is pleased to be LG`s link to small and large outlets, as well as distributors, smaller IT dealers and advertising agencies," explains Aronovitz.
