Game developers shun Android
He is echoing other developers' reluctance to create games for Android despite its growth.
“Every six months, I'd take a look at the scope of the Android and decide if it was time to start really looking into it,” Carmack says. “You're just not making money in the Android space as you are in the iOS space.”
He originally created the seminal 'Wolfenstein' and 'Doom' games, and his company recently developed the acclaimed 'Rage' for iOS last fall.
According to Ubergizmo, Carmack did a quick poll between iOS and Android users at the last Quakecon event where he asked them who has spent $20 on a game for their mobile phones before.
The majority of hands raised were from iOS users. Based on this poll alone, he's decided not to create games for Android.
