GAO RFID Q3 sales grow

GAO RFID's third-quarter sales revenue has increased by 185.07% year-on-year, states Big News.

This year's growth saw a second-quarter growth of 55.61% compared with the first quarter of 2008, and a further growth of 7.7% in the third quarter. All indications point to continued significant growth for this year and next.

The RFID solutions provider's products and services are customised for use in asset tracking, healthcare, and logistics, event management, and livestock among other things.

Orizin releases tiny tag

Orizin Technologies is releasing the world's smallest and most cost-effective active RFID tag, reports Business Wire India.

The RFID solutions provider says the active RFID tags are used to track assets over long ranges. They have their own internal power source and are more effective in RF-challenged environments.

Orizin says it used new technology to solve the size and pricing issues of the tag. The new tag has a read-range of 20m, it is 26mm in length - making it the smallest in the world - and is priced at $8 for more than 5k quantity.

DPT Labs implements RFID

DPT Laboratories is planning an RFID pilot with one of its customers for early 2009, the RFID Journal says.

The contract drug developer and manufacturer has been regularly polling its customers regarding their RFID, serialisation and e-pedigree needs, and is currently studying the technology.

Much of the work is driven by California's e-pedigree legislation, which will take effect between 2015 and 2017. An e-pedigree is an electronic record used for tracking the movement of prescription drugs through the supply chain, with the goal of combating counterfeit or adulterated prescription drugs.
