Garmin introduces aviation e-learning

Garmin has rolled out a computer-based training program that helps customers take advantage of the features of their Garmin aviation products, states Aero-News.net.

Garmin has teamed with aviation developer, Pegasus Interactive, to develop the e-learning program.

The e-learning programme, distributed on CD-ROM, is a Windows compatible application, which has a simulation system that can create flight plans and over 50 aviation topics.

$3m for tech scholarships

The Australian Computer Society Foundation has upped its technology scholarships, despite the recession, with up to $3 million worth of funds up for grabs, reports Australian IT.

Recently acquired IT services firm Satyam was still part of the $8 million programme, the foundation said. The society runs two scholarship programmes on behalf of technology companies based in Australia, which pay between $34 000 and $42 000 a year to sponsor students.

Work-integrated learning scholarships are designed to give students work experience related to their studies. In the first quarter of this year, there was a 22.4% increase in the number of scholarships awarded, compared with the same period last year.
