Gartner has recognised Dimension Data as a player in the competitive Web services space in North America by including the company in its latest Magic Quadrant.
Gartner`s Magic Quadrant is highly respected. In 2003, it was applied for the first time in the Web services area, where Dimension Data appears as one of only 12 companies featured. Criteria for submission and consideration were substantial, and included the provision of more than 15 customer case studies.
Gartner developed the Web Services Consulting and Systems Integration (SI) Vendor Magic Quadrant to help enterprises better understand the Web services capabilities of consulting and SI vendors. It positions the 12 consulting and SI vendors with respect to their Web services capabilities. Dimension Data is positioned as a niche player.
Gartner`s Magic Quadrant process involves primary research with direct client references, as well as the consulting and SI vendor`s representation of itself. The analysis involves a weighting of both sources of information, with a heavier emphasis on direct feedback from the consulting and SI vendors` clients.
According to Gartner, many enterprises are turning to consulting and systems integration (SI) vendors for help in using Web services technologies. Gartner Dataquest estimates that the worldwide market for consulting and development and integration services relating to Web services integration software was $7.4 billion in 2002 and will reach $14.3 billion by 2006.
Gartner research shows that 92% of end-users who work with or plan to work with consulting and SI vendors in North America are interested in using some form of Web services.
