Gartner: Mobius entrenches leadership position in document management, holds seminar in SA

Gartner has positioned Mobius Management Systems - for the 15th consecutive year - in the leaders` quadrant in its `Gartner`s Magic Quadrant` analysis of the integrated document archive and retrieval systems (IDARS) market(1).

According to Gartner, leaders have the most comprehensive and scalable products as well as a proven track record of financial performance and continued customer and revenue growth.

Mobius is a leading provider of comprehensive software solutions for total content management. It is represented in South Africa by Bateleur Software, which is hosting a complimentary morning seminar to highlight ways in which banks can reduce costs, drive customer service and self-services to superior levels and leverage technology investments.

The Gartner report notes the convergence of archiving products, including IDARS, e-mail archiving, imaging and SAP archiving to leverage repository capabilities. For more than 20 years, Mobius has offered IDARS solutions based on a highly scalable repository that integrates reports, images, records, documents, e-mail and all in-process content in any format and from any source.

According to June Julyan, Mobius product manager of Bateleur Software, its leadership position is unmatched, and it`s gratifying to earn the appropriate recognition from respected analyst firms like Gartner.

"Mobius continues to leverage its core strengths to meet changing customer requirements," Julyan says. "Most notably, Mobius delivers the lowest cost solution to ensure the long-term integrity and availability of critical information assets to support compliance, mission-critical operations and content-enabled applications," she said.

The seminar will be addressed by Paul Abbott, Director of Industry Solutions for Banking and Financial Systems from Mobius Management Systems. Having worked with some of the largest banks in the world over the past 30 years, Abbott has extensive knowledge of the banking industry, its systems and future direction.

At the seminar, Abbott will share his business acumen on the following topics:
* What banking customers and financial organisations are looking for today.
* Building the business case for a 30% reduction in operating expenses.
* Industry update on content integration.
* Know your customer.
* Concepts versus realities in migrating to a cheque image environment.
* Current trends with statements.
* Cheque image archives.
* Duplicate item detection.
* Image exchange between banks and other institutions.

The seminar will be held on Tuesday, 15 August at the Glenhove Conference Centre, Glenhove Road, Johannesburg. For more information, please contact June Julyan on (011) 691-1600 or june@bateleur.co.za.

According to the Gartner report, Mobius continues to be considered on most shortlists for IDARS selections and has few peers for IDARS applications requiring high scalability and print-stream ingestion.

"Mobius has extended its ViewDirect product platform by incorporating additional functionality such as records management and e-mail archiving. These changes enable Mobius to better participate in the compliance and content management markets," the report states. "Its virtual foldering capabilities and flexible viewing for distributed content in applications, such as customer support, are its strengths."

Julyan points out that the market trends identified in the report - integrated archiving, expanded functionality and `almost infinite` scalability - all play to Mobius`s core strengths.

"With the IDARS market consolidating and customer requirements evolving, Mobius`s many years of market leadership and clear vision are more important differentiators than ever before. Together, Mobius and Bateleur`s strategy is to address the growing and emerging markets that build on the IDARS foundation - and enlarge the IDARS mission - to meet our customers` requirements," she says.

Mobius will achieve this by:
* Integrating records management and e-mail archiving functionality with core IDARS to streamline internal operations and ease the burdens of regulatory and legal compliance.
* Integrating records, e-mail and content across formats and repositories to reduce costs and simplify complex environments.
* Guaranteeing the long-term integrity and availability of traditional records and all other repository content.
* Delivering solutions to meet regulatory compliance and legal discovery requirements for all repository content.
* Expanding its vertical and horizontal solutions that address specific business and operational challenges while delivering an accelerated ROI.

"Mobius is the only company with the experience, leadership and vision to help our customers manage the explosive growth of information and leverage critical information assets to further the goals of the organisation," Julyan says.
