Gartner positions Informatica as a Leader in 2014 Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management of Customer Data Solutions

Company improves its positioning for ability to execute and completeness of vision.

Redwood City, California, 04 Nov 2014

Informatica (Nasdaq:INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced Gartner, a leading IT research and advisory firm, has positioned Informatica as a leader in its October 2014 Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management of Customer Data Solutions report, based on ability to execute and completeness of vision.

Informatica's positioning moved up and to the right with respect to both of these metrics, and Informatica was placed furthest to the right on the completeness of vision axis.

The complete report, published on 30 October, including the quadrant graphic, is available at:

Bill O'Kane and Saul Judah, Research Directors at Gartner, wrote in the report: "Businesses of all sizes and in many industries are struggling to maintain a consistent, shareable and accurate single version of customer data across their organisations - a requirement that is growing in importance. With the increasing focus on the digitalisation of enterprises, management of their key master data is also becoming more important. The ability to achieve and maintain a single, semantically consistent version of customer master data is crucial for customer-centric organisations."

According to the Gartner report, "When creating and managing customer master data, many organisations and vendors originally thought that CRM, ERP or industry application systems would solve the problem of inconsistent master data spread across multiple systems; however, these systems were not designed for that task, and there are often multiple CRM or ERP systems within an enterprise. Many organisations have now invested in creating a new central system to master their customer data, with the majority (an estimated 80%) buying packaged MDM of customer data solutions, as opposed to building the capability themselves."

The Gartner report noted that the MDM of customer data solutions market continues to grow at a significant rate. "Gartner estimates that the MDM of customer data solutions market segment was worth $586 million in 2013, an increase of 12.2% from 2012."

Informatica MDM uses a flexible business model-driven MDM approach to address customers' unique business requirements. This proven multidomain MDM approach improves operations by empowering business users with consolidated and reliable business-critical data - such as customers, products, channel partners, suppliers - and the relationships among them.

"We believe Informatica's continued leadership position in the Gartner Magic Quadrant reaffirms the strong momentum and the bold vision of our MDM product, and its acceptance among our customers," said Dennis Moore, senior vice-president, Master Data Management, Informatica. "We continue to invest substantially in our multidomain MDM product and its innovation based on Informatica's Intelligent Data Platform. This demonstrates Informatica's commitment to our customers' success with a complete MDM solution that is flexible, fast to implement, and business-user focused."
