Gartner has recognised Hyperion, the global leader in business performance management software, for vision and ability to execute in its first ever Corporate Performance Management (CPM) Suites Magic Quadrant.
Gartner defines CPM as the methodologies, metrics, processes and systems used to monitor and manage the business performance of an enterprise. Hyperion, distributed locally by GBI, the business intelligence company in the JSE Securities Exchange-listed Global Technology group, uses a similar term, business performance management, to define the company`s solutions that address enterprise needs to enable customers to anticipate results, measure performance and drive profitability.
Gartner says 40% of large enterprises will adopt CPM by 2005. Gartner evaluated vendor viability, functionality, technology, and service and support when placing vendors in the CPM Magic Quadrant.
"Gartner`s report mirrors what we`re seeing in the marketplace," says Johan Cloete, CEO of GBI. "Economic uncertainty and the greater need for corporate accountability are two key factors additionally driving the adoption of business performance management. Customers clearly see the value of business performance management and believe Hyperion is best qualified to deliver that value. Our customers are endorsing our vision of a comprehensive solution to measure performance, anticipate change and drive profitability across their companies."
The report discusses how enterprises can use CPM to improve their planning and control cycles and profiles major CPM players, including enterprise applications vendors, business intelligence vendors and best-of-breed hybrid players. Companies are evaluated based on their vision and their ability to execute as "leaders", "visionaries", "challengers", or "niche players".
While there were no companies in the leadership quadrant, Hyperion was placed in the "visionaries" quadrant. According to the report, visionaries have a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimising service delivery.
