Gartner upbeat about Oz revenue

(BI) software revenue to grow 11.7% to reach A$406.4 million in 2012, ARN reports.

The forecast includes revenue for BI platforms, analytics applications and corporate performance management software.

Additionally, worldwide BI software revenue is predicted to reach almost $12.5 billion in 2012, up 7.2% over 2011.

Gartner also mentioned that BI will still be one of the fastest growing software markets in the world even though some countries are experiencing economic problems, International Business Times notes.

The reason for this is that most companies would focus on developing BI as a way to implement a smarter, flexible and more efficient business practice.

CIOs ranked BI and analytics as their top technology priority for 2012, according to a new Gartner survey of more than 2 300 CIOs worldwide.

Speaking ahead of his keynote address at the Gartner Business Intelligence and Information Management Summit, in Sydney, this month, Gartner managing VP Ian Bertram said that during the next 10 years, the explosion of information will be the biggest opportunity for BI and also its biggest challenge, PR Wire writes.

“The extreme volume, velocity and variety of will add stress to current approaches to BI and are increasingly capturing the attention of both the BI industry and buyers,” he said.
