With the launch of The BPM Challenge at this year`s Hyperion User Group, local Hyperion distributor Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI) is challenging organisations in SA to take a good, hard look inward to see if they have the DNA for sustainable growth.
The BPM (Business Performance Management) Challenge is a tool that can be used to assess the current BPM status of an organisation and the maturity of that organisation to embrace BPM and its methodologies.
"The challenge consists of a user-friendly electronic questionnaire of 65 questions, covering eight dimensions of BPM," says GBI CEO Marc Scheepbouwer.
"These dimensions are: levers for change, technology, information maturity, methodology, metrics, performance management, processes, and organisational culture."
The challenge is free of charge to managers and executives of all organisations interested in the future sustainable growth of their business. The questionnaire may be requested from GBI and completed by many different managers and executives across the business. This will help provide a holistic view of a company`s current BPM condition.
Once the questionnaire has been completed and returned to GBI, it is processed and the results are prepared in a report, which is presented to the participating organisation. This report indicates the BPM status of that company and provides recommendations on how the company can best work towards its goal of sustainable growth using business performance management.
"BPM is one of the core capabilities we offer the market," Scheepbouwer says. "As thought leaders in this area, we have realised how important it is to make organisations more aware of the value BPM can bring to business. This challenge allows companies to see how BPM-ready they are, and with this awareness we can then engage with them to find the best way forward."
BPM, also known as corporate performance management (CPM), is defined as a framework of methodologies, metrics, processes and systems used to monitor and manage the business performance of an organisation.
"Many organisations make the mistake of believing that the implementation of business intelligence solutions is enough to enable sustainable growth," he says. "With this challenge we want to show companies that they in fact need to expand their use of solutions, through ad hoc querying, reporting and analytical dashboards for example, to make BI part of the overall practice of BPM."
