Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI), a division of Global Technology, has negotiated the distribution rights to Acta, a software suite that enhances ERP business intelligence by transforming ERP data and loading it into a data warehouse or data mart.
Mark Williams, GBI`s MD, sees the ERP arena as providing extensive opportunities. "SAP penetration in SA has been exceptional and we have already had enquiries from local companies who have implemented SAP. Acta has proved itself overseas, turning complex SAP data into a veritable goldmine of management and decision support information."
Acta links dynamically into a number of leading ERP solutions including SAP, which has BAPI certified Acta, and PeopleSoft which has approved it as part of their Global Alliance Program. Acta extracts data from the ERP database and manipulates it to populate a datamart or data warehouse environment. Acta also has RapidMarts, pre-packaged datamarts for SAP data that allow rapid development of a business intelligence capability.
Williams points out that GBI brings additional competencies and products to the table for the SAP customer. "By combining our Hyperion products with Acta, the SAP user gets enhanced intelligence capabilities via multi-dimensional analysis, reporting, planning and modelling."
He says GBI`s strategy is to become the provider of the widest range of BI solutions. "We will continue our search for best of breed technology to enhance the solutions we offer. Acta, with its SAP certification and excellent functionality, gives GBI a real edge in the ERP arena."
