GBI, the business intelligence division of JSE Securities Exchange-listed Global Technology, has announced the local availability of Hyperion Analyzer 6.1, the latest version of its multidimensional analysis tool. The solution has been completely re-architected so as to allow it to take advantage of Java power and functionality.
"The ability of Java to execute on multiple platforms has opened a significant opportunity for Hyperion as it is written in 100% Java, from the ground up, to leverage the power and performance of open systems platforms," says Johan Cloete, CEO of GBI.
This has also enabled high-end scalability and performance, as Hyperion Analyzer 6.1 now runs on leading J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) - compliant application servers such as IBM`s Websphere and Apache`s Tomcat. The application server shares Hyperion Analyzer business logic, manages network traffic, maintains system security for large numbers of concurrent users, and provides load balancing, fault tolerance, and failover.
Other key enhancements in Hyperion Analyzer 6.1 include:
* Improved relational integration: Through a graphic interface, users can easily access data regardless of where it is located, and merge relational and multidimensional data together on the same report.
* The Hyperion Analyzer 6.1 Windows client: This is the same easy-to-use Java Web client interface and functionality clients have come to know, delivered as a Java application for supported Windows operating systems.
* Personalisation: Users can customise their user preferences such as the look and feel, database connections and points of view.
* Drag-and-drop report creation, with the ability to distribute Analysis reports internally and externally, saved as HTML Web content, and referenced using URLs.
* Improved analytics and display: Increased flexibility for pinboards, enhanced traffic lighting and support for annotations.
* Enhanced printing, with support for PDF files.
* More robust API toolkit: For easy customisation of Hyperion Analyzer applications.
