GBI, the business intelligence specialist in the JSE Securities Exchange-listed Global Technology group, is to present ABC Fundamentals, a two-day business seminar, covering activity-based costing (ABC) and activity-based management (ABM) through its training division, the GBI Academy.
The seminar aims to provide insight to users and potential users as to what is possible and viable in terms of marrying ABC methodology and process with technology. It will provide a detailed view of a successful implementation methodology, the theory behind ABC and how to use the data derived from the model.
"We are running this seminar as experience has shown us that many of these projects fail due, among other reasons, to a lack of resources, over-analysis, data corruption and data unavailability," says Inge Rickhoff, GBI Academy manager. "The seminar deals with these issues and helps companies understand the important factors that must be established in order to have a stable ABC model."
ABC and ABM pinpoint an organisation`s most profitable customers, products, regions or channels, and they uncover the cost of individual business processes that may need revamping to drive higher profit levels.
This critical information gives users real insight into the business and informs their future decision-making. Strategic decision-making depends on accurate, detailed information about the true costs of doing business to enhance the links between long-term strategies and day-to-day decision-making.
"This specialised methodology of ABC provides organisations with the ability to identify cost savings. Attending the seminar will address issues regarding the process, criteria, requirements and benefits of implementing ABC in an organisation," says HP van Dyk, product manager: Metify at GBI. Attendees will gain a better understanding of the methodology of ABC and ABM, the theory behind the methodology and an insight into implementing it in their organisation.
They will be able to evaluate the data sources in the organisation to ascertain whether or not they can support ABC, maintain the model, taking into account business process re-engineering, and understand the results that lead to determining customer and product profitability.
Three dates, starting at the end of February next year, have been set for the seminar, however, further dates will be scheduled depending on demand. For further information contact Inge Rickhoff on (011) 319 3148 or irickhoff@glotec.co.za.
