Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI), the local distributor of the Hyperion range of business performance management solutions, is hosting its annual Hyperion User Group Seminar (HUGS) at the VW Conference Centre in Midrand on 3 June.
HUGS is a seminar for GBI clients to gather and discuss how they are using their specific Hyperion solutions; what issues they are facing in their respective industries; to be updated on new product releases and upgrades; and to be informed about new features and functionalities.
"This year`s user group is focused on financial management and operational planning," says GBI CEO Marc Scheepbouwer. "There will be sessions on the enhancements made to Hyperion Essbase, tips and tricks that clients can apply to their solutions, and a roadmap of the strategy for the newly launched Business Intelligence Platform.
"The Dare to Dashboard initiative will also be launched at HUGS, whereby Hyperion Intelligence, as the solution, will power an organisation`s unique Dashboard by providing zero to full visibility in only three days. Clients are then able to experience this management Dashboard for a month, free of charge. If clients would like to continue using the Dashboard after this period they have the option to purchase the solution."
Hyperion clients presenting at this year`s HUGS include FirstRand, Nissan and Anglo Platinum.
Sylvia Pugin, project manager at FirstRand, will present on her company`s implementation of Hyperion Financial Management as part of the group`s financial systems solutions project.
Andrew Greef, Red Ink consultant at Nissan, will present on the use of Hyperion Planning to develop a sales and operations planning process that links long-, medium- and short-term vehicle volume planning to demand and supply.
Kole Andric, system administrator at Anglo Platinum, will deliver a presentation on Essbase Calculation Script Management as it is being used at the platinum giant.
Scheepbouwer stresses that HUGS is not a product punt from GBI to its clients, or an analyst presentation to entice clients into believing they have chosen the perfect business intelligence solution. Rather, it is a platform for existing clients to interactively discuss issues and to bounce ideas off each other.
"Networking and sharing information is one of the best ways to learn and solve problems, and this is HUGS`s aim," Scheepbouwer says. "Through interaction and discussion with other users, clients can find feasible solutions to specific problems they have been facing. There is no better measure of a product or company than first-hand experiences from its clients and users."
GBI provides BI solutions which include comprehensive support to the entire management cycle, delivering data platform and integration services, query and reporting, data analysis, performance scorecarding, modelling, budgeting, planning, activity-based costing, forecasting and financial consolidation and reporting. GBI is the local distributor of Hyperion, Armstrong Laing and SPSS, and a reseller of Ascential products. These solutions are used by 85 leading South African companies, including 20 of the top 25 public companies.
