GBI tackles future strategy with combined Business Objects, Acta

Johannesburg, 11 Jul 2002

Global Technology Business Intelligence (GBI) will be in discussion with Business Objects and Acta Technology Inc to define a combined future strategy for tackling the Southern African market. This follows Business Objects` announcement on 9 July of a definitive agreement to acquire Acta Technology Inc.

GBI, a division of JSE Securities Exchange-listed Global Technology, will continue to maintain its strong partnership with formerly privately held Acta, working together to provide local customers with the industry`s first and only batch and real-time data integration platform for the extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) segments.

"GBI views this acquisition as a positive move for Acta, nationally and internationally. We look forward to improving on our ever-increasing position in SA with the ability of providing our current and prospective customers with expert knowledge of Acta," says Johan Cloete, CEO of GBI.

The Acta acquisition, a cash transaction, should be completed by the third quarter of the year and has been approved by the boards of both companies.
