Geac picks Cognos as its No 1 e-business intelligence supplier

Cognos, the leading vendor of enterprise business intelligence solutions or e-business, and Geac SmartEnterprise Solutions, the leading provider of financials and HR solutions, have announced a new strategic partnership in which Cognos becomes Geac`s leading business Intelligence supplier. Based on an existing relationship, Geac plans to extend Cognos`s solutions across its entire product line. This will have particular validity in conjunction with Geac`s new Active Architecture strategy. Geac products are distributed in South Africa by PQ Mainstream, the midmarket ERP solutions company in the PQ Africa group. Vanessa Nutter, marketing and sales director at PQ Mainstream, says the first products delivered from this agreement will include an integrated solution for Geac`s SmartEnterprise Solutions.

"Companies around the world are coming to understand that their financial systems are their richest source of enterprise data, especially when these financial systems are tightly integrated, as are those of Geac," says Nutter. "Combining these with the business intelligence tools from Cognos will add significant value to our customers."

In addition to its suite of human resources, financials and procurement solutions, Geac also offers SmartEnterprise Warehouse. This is an open data warehousing solution that will leverage Cognos`s intelligence tools and deliver information in the appropriate business context.
