Recently Huawei Technologies, one of the leading optical network suppliers, won a contract from PfalzKom, a German telecoms operator, for building its regional backbone optical transport network.
This contract was inked following Huawei`s early success of the first sales in the German market in April through its German partner, VIERLING ELECTRONICS GMBH CO. KG. PfalzKom, Gesellschaft fuer Telekommunikation mbH, finally closed its deal with Huawei for its backbone network construction through multi-rounds of bidding negotiations with Huawei and other leading telecoms providers from Europe and North America involved in the bidding project.
Under this contract, Huawei will deliver PfalzKom its OptiX series products including 10 nodes, mostly 10Gbps SDH equipment in addition to 2.5Gbps. With Huawei`s renowned OptiX 10G, PfalzKom will greatly boost its quality and ability of multi-service transmission for the area of Rheinland-Pfalz when the two multi-node rings and one chain are formed as scheduled.
In addition, the completion of the project will help PfalzKom to bring more value-added services to its business clients such as Daimler Chrysler, BASF, Bosch, etc. and its services mainly cover the area of the Province of Rheinland-Pfalz, the City of Ludwigshafen and other places.
Since last September`s commercial debut in the Chinese market, the largest global telecoms market next to the USA, Huawei`s OptiX 10G series products have been massively deployed in China and elsewhere. Currently, Huawei has sold over 60,000 sets of optical equipment in more than 30 countries and over 500 sets of them are OptiX 10G.
In Asia-Pacific, OptiX 10G systems have been stably running on more than 20 backbone networks in the market. Huawei`s OptiX 10G has grown into one of the most competitive products in the industry globally. According to RHK, an US-based telecom consultancy firm, Huawei came second in the Asia-Pacific SDH/SONET market and fourth in the Asia-Pacific Optical Transport market in 2000.
Having entered the German telecom market earlier this year with a project for STNB, another telecom carrier in Germany, this is the first time for Huawei Technologies to deploy its 10G equipment in Germany.
"We are enthusiastic about cooperating with PfalzKom and are very pleased to have them as our valued customer." Zhang Yin, Vice President of Huawei Technologies, therefore stresses, "Huawei`s optical network products enjoy good reputation worldwide, even in terms of after-sales service. The reputation we hope to prove once more in the Province of Rheinland-Pfalz through this OptiX project."
In addition to SDH products up to STM-64 (10Gb/s), Huawei also provides DWDM system up to 1600G and Metro products for metropolitan environment.
