Gestetner SA expands MFP range to target small, medium offices

Gestetner launches the 3532 and 4532 MFPs into the local market
Johannesburg, 11 Jun 2003

Gestetner SA is expanding its range of multi-functional products (MFPs) by introducing the 3532 and 4532 models into the local market. These new machines, ideal for small and medium offices as well as smaller offices within larger organisations, include a number of new and updated features beyond the standard print, scan, copy and fax functionality that will further enhance performance levels.

Richard Pinker, managing director of Gestetner SA, says: "Many businesses are still to replace their various standalone machines with one document device. This step alone will reduce costs as it will eliminate the continual need for expensive consumables but there are a number of other productivity and profitability benefits of installing an MFP.

"When it comes to MFPs, most innovation comes from software upgrades and enhancements rather than developments in hardware and this is no different with the 3532 and 4532 models," says Pinker. "Both have been designed with the objective of simplifying the user experience and empowering users to take full advantage of all the benefits."

The introduction of the RPCS drivers ensure that users are able to easily use the many finishing options available such as stapling, hole punching and even booklet creation. New and updated software features ensure easier IT administration as these devices can be remotely administered across a network using any Internet browser. Being able to interact with the MFPs using a browser has the added advantage of providing instant feedback regarding the status of documents directly to the user. Other features include DeskTopBinder, which facilitates the easy management, viewing, and reproduction of documents stored on the network and can be used to merge different types of documents in preparation for printing.

"Another key development is the inclusion of the scan-to-e-mail function which offers a cost-effective alternative to faxing," says Pinker. "Users simply scan the document, type in the required e-mail address and send the material directly."

Small and medium offices are looking to simplify their communications infrastructure, while increasing productivity and profitability. Both the 3532 and 4532 incorporate a host of features, not found on standalone printers and copiers, making it a serious alternative to the average desktop printer.
