The Apple iStore is on a mission to eradicate patience. It now let's Apple lovers upgrade to the latest iPhone once a year - for a fee.
"Over the years, we've seen a trend where a new iPhone gets introduced every year. But contracts offered for handsets from providers span two years," the iStore says in a statement.
"And we know how nationwide FOMO [fear of missing out] sets in when the latest iPhone is being paraded around by other people whose contracts have luckily coincided with the time of the new product launch."
The iStore now offers a monthly payment plan, separate from a cellular network, which allows users to get a new iPhone every year. This is facilitated through iStore's new credit card, the iStore Card.
To qualify for an iStore Card, those interested will have to be 18 years or older, be a South African citizen and earn at least R4 000 per month. Apply for an iStore Card here.
Once users have the iStore Card, they can either apply online or in store for the 24-month payment plan. They will also have to get a SIM-only contract separately, or use the device on prepaid.
Those who opt to take this plan now will receive a new iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, and then next year they will be able to go into the iStore and trade-in their iPhone for the latest model.
