Get free WiFi access with your cellphone package from @lantic

@lantic, the consumer and small business service provider in the Vox Telecom group, is offering 100MB per month of free WiFi access to all customers who buy a new cellular voice package - enabling them to surf the Internet from their phones for free in their favourite restaurant or coffee shop.

“South Africans are spending a fortune in mobile data charges to access the Internet from their phones,” says @lantic's Sales and Marketing Director, Dederick Venter. “But modern smartphones all come equipped with the ability to access the Internet over a WiFi connection as well - so we've partnered with AlwaysOn, one of the biggest WiFi hotspot companies in South Africa, to give our customers 100MB a month of free access. Not only will this allow customers to surf the Web for free, but it will also enable them to make use of technologies like mobile SIP clients to make free VOIP calls.”

AlwaysOn hotspots are available in hotels, airports, coffee shops and restaurants all over South Africa, including Wimpy, Primi Piatti, Mugg & Bean, Nando's, Caf'e Dulce and many more. It's even possible to surf the Internet inside an Absa branch. In addition, there are AlwaysOn partner hotspots all over the world.

“Our ADSL customers already get free hotspot access and it's time to include our mobile customers as well,” says Venter. “A lot of people don't even know they have the option of using WiFi so they are using expensive data bundles - but we believe the Internet should be cheap for everyone.”

Venter says 100MB a month is enough for roughly 6 000 e-mails, 500 standard Web pages, 100 minutes of streaming video or 25 apps or games. “It's also easy to top up your account if you need more bandwidth,” he adds. “You can do it directly over the Internet while you're at the hotspot.”

The new offer applies to all new purchases of tablet computers or smartphone packages offered by @lantic.
