Every day we are becoming more aware that computing is moving beyond the cloud.
Cloud computing is taking over the world, advancing us towards true mobility. Gone are the days of damage control and running around trying to fix outdated software and hardware systems. We use the cloud every day when accessing Facebook and Twitter; we define these experiences by the ease of access, the self-service, and the always-on model is how we live our lives now. Finally, a true corporate cloud service designed for the end-user but licensed and managed in a corporate manner.
Enter Star Trek, a world where all applications are stored and managed in the wide blue yonder, called the cloud.
Synergy Group will be the host in showcasing the innovative Office 365 and Windows 8 at the Microsoft Customer Experience Centre, in Johannesburg. The reason for all this hype is not that these two programs are the new best thing; these programs are the future.
In today's fast-paced business environment, everybody is looking for systems that make their lives easier, and in the end, increase productivity. Office 365's incredible interface makes it easier for the user to access all documents and files from virtually anywhere on the planet, provided you have an Internet connection. Nothing has changed; in fact, why change something that works when you can just move it to the cloud? Office 365's improved productivity is not the only main attraction. The fact that it is cost-effective, easily accessible and has the guarantee that Microsoft will handle all crashes and updates make it almost irresistible.
Miles Regenass, IT Solutions Sales Manager at Synergy Group, mentioned: "Finally, a real cloud solution has arrived that is not only simple to use, but also fulfils the needs of the very mobile corporate workforce. Office 365 is the way to go."
As for Windows 8 - embrace the change. Although the new operating system may be daunting to certain users, it is not what Microsoft intended. The fact that the operating system resembles that of a tablet or mobile device is simply done to prepare the users for when more devices go mobile in the hope that no one gets left behind.
"The seamless transition of a user's experience between mobile, laptop and desktop with the help of Windows 8 is what will make this program a success," Miles concluded.
The Office 365 event will take place on 16 April at the Microsoft Customer Experience Centre, and the Windows 8 event on 15 May. If anybody needs additional information or wants to attend these events, be sure to e-mail Elsjene Burger, Head of Marketing at Synergy Group, at elle@synergygroup.co.za.
