Developers will be able to get a jumpstart on developing next generation B2B applications through Sun Microsystems' announce of early access availability of key Java technologies for XML.
The early access availability of two key Java technology application programming interfaces (APIs) gives developers a powerful, easy-to-use tool set for developing and deploying Java technology-based applications.
"This announcement shows Sun's commitment to the open, services-centric application model typically in demand by the development community," comments Peter Castle, senior Java and Jini systems engineer at Sun Microsystems SA.
With the delivery of JAXM, JAXP, and the forthcoming JAXB, Sun is providing essential XML functionality to Java technology developers and continuing to deliver on its vision of simplifying development of network-centric applications based on open industry standards.
"The Java platform and XML are two open industry standards that together are enabling the world of B2B e-commerce, which will allow enterprises to greatly simplify and lower the cost of information sharing and data exchange," says Castle.
"In SA with the vast expanse of land, mobile computing is becoming a more and more critical element in the business environment. For example delivering goods, fruit and local produce efficiently and cost effectively will make all the difference to our export market and local economy."
He says the release of Java 2 for the Palm OS will give developers the ability to develop applications that will easily integrate with the traditional ERP back end systems and home grown applications for SA's unique way of business.
"The early access availability of these key Java technologies means developers can get a jumpstart on developing next generation B2B applications."
The quick implementation of JAXM, known by the code name "The M Project", enables the packaging, routing and transport of both XML and non-XML business messages across a number of key communications infrastructures, such as those based on HTTP, SMTP, and FTP protocols.
By supporting industry standard packaging and an asynchronous messaging model, Java technology programmers will be able to easily and quickly build robust, reliable, and secure B2B e-commerce applications.
