Gigabyte enhances overclocking with new technologies

Johannesburg, 07 Oct 2003

Gigabyte Technologies - distributed by Rectron - has introduced its CIA (CPU Intelligent Accelerator) and MIB (Memory Intelligent Booster) technologies that enable intelligent, simplified and effective overclocking.

Both these overclocking technologies ship with Gigabyte`s recently released P4 Titan GT edition motherboards. The MIB technology, for example, shortens the interval of each clock cycle enabling systems to transfer the same amount of data in a shorter time period, thus increasing performance.

Overclocking enables PC users to gain the highest performance from their current hardware configurations.

Gigabyte`s CIA overclocking technology is designed to detect CPU loading during software execution, automatically adjusting CPU computing power to maximise system performance.

"During performance intensive tasks such as video and audio encoding, the CPU requires more computing power. However, if Gigabyte`s CIA is enabled, it detects the current CPI loading and accelerates the CPU computing power, therefore, executing programs faster and smoother," says Reon Coetzee, marketing manager at Rectron.

Designed to maximise memory performance, Gigabyte`s MIB technology boosts memory bandwidth up to 10% by optimising data transmissions in a CPUs north bridge chipset and memory.

"In fact," comments Coetzee, "the MIB shortens memory latency time and enhances system performance without sacrificing stability."

The north bridge chipset plays an important role in the transfer of data between the CPU and a PC`s memory. The rate of data transfer depends on the clock cycles needed for the memory to be delivered to the CPU.
