Gigabyte pushes writeable DVDs into mainstream with new DVD-Dual drive

Johannesburg, 18 Sep 2003

Official Gigabyte Technology distributor, Rectron, has introduced the company`s flagship GO-W404A DVD-Dual drive - featuring DVD+R/RW design - to the South African channel.

The DVD-Dual drive offers support for 4X DVD + Write/2X DVD + ReWrite/6X DVD-ROM-Read/40X CD-Write/25X CD-ReWrite/40X CD-ROM-Read. In addition, the Gigabyte IBS feature prevents buffer under-run problems - eliminating the creation of CD and DVD coasters.

"Gigabyte`s GO-W404A will push writeable DVD`s into the mainstream as it features a cost-effective design coupled with support for the most popular DVD write formats," says Reon Coetzee, marketing manager at Rectron.

Gigabyte`s DVD-Dual drive reads and writes data from both DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW formats.

This dual compatible feature also enables the GO-W404A to create DVD discs that can be played or read by most DVD-ROM drives and DVD players.

In addition, the DVD-Dual drive`s Intelligent Burning SuperLink functionality prevents errors if the recording process is interrupted due to slow source-drive performance, PC configuration problems, or when running other applications.

"The GO-W404A also ships with the well-known Nero software suite, which supports almost all CD-burning features," he comments.
