Gigabyte release motherboard featuring NVIDIA nForce2 chipset

Johannesburg, 08 Jul 2003

Official South African Gigabyte Technology distributor, Rectron has announced the immediate availability of the GA-7NNXP - the flagship model of the NVIDIA nForce2 chipset-based motherboard.

The new GA-7NNXP inherits the power of the nForce2 Ultra 400 System Platform Processor (SPP) and features the "6-Dual Miracle" building blocks that are designed to deliver performance and stability.

Explains Reon Coetzee, marketing manager at Rectron: "The GA-7NNXP`s SPP offers next-generation functionality that includes a 400MHz systems bus, dual channel DDR400 controller and AGP8X graphics interface - providing a framework for excellent performance."

In addition, the Dynamic Adaptive Speculative Pre-processor (DASP) and Hyper-Transport technologies are integrated to boost the overall system performance.

The GA-7NNXP also offers a new generation Dual Channel DDR solution for AMD`s recently released AthlonXP processors.

The dual channel DDR400 architecture provides enhanced bandwidth of 6.4GBps. "This feature gives users even greater performance than that of RDRAM memory, which is already well-known for its outstanding speed," he comments.

Featuring DualBIOS, the GA-7NNXP offers two BIOS chips, which means that if the main BIOS fails to boot up due to virus infection or failure, the backup BIOS automatically takes over on the next system start up.

"This innovative technology guarantees the motherboard`s stability and reliability," adds Coetzee.

The motherboard also integrates IEEE1394 FireWire support. The multimedia-driven high-bandwidth IEEE1394 interface enhances PC connectivity with consumer electronics such as audio/video (AV) appliances, and storage peripherals.
