GijimaAst receives AA rating from Empowerdex

Johannesburg, 27 Jan 2006

GijimaAst has been awarded an AA rating by Empowerdex ratings agency.

Regarding itself as a "new generation South African ICT company", GijimaAst has achieved this rating as a result of a continued commitment by the company to transform the business according to all the objectives of black economic empowerment, including shareholding, board of directors and management structure, company demographics, affirmative procurement, development of its own staff and SMMEs.

"We see transformation as an opportunity for continued growth and development in line with the Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment Act, the Employment Equity Act and the draft ICT charter," explains John Miller, CEO of GijimaAst.

To this end, GijimaAst has focused on entrenching empowerment on a sustainable platform throughout the business to ensure effective participation of black people in terms of ownership, control and skilled occupations.

"We believe that black economic empowerment provides a wonderful opportunity to not only participate in the development and transformation of the nation, but it also affords the chance to implement a carefully designed BEE strategy, which has enabled our organisation to flourish and become leaders in the ICT industry," concludes Miller.

"This is why BEE is supported and practised within all we do, further showing our commitment to fostering sustainable empowerment to our customers, suppliers and employees, while providing the best possible service to our clients."
